This year’s British Masters supported by Sky Sports took place at Close House, Newcastle upon Tyne from 26 September -1 October. The tournament saw some of golf’s leading talents continue their journey to the top of the European Tour and beyond.
The tournament kicked off with the Hero Challenge which tested European Tour stars’ and British celebrities’ skills on a sudden-death shootout hole under floodlights and in front of thousands of fans.
Then, on Wednesday 27 September, the Pro-Am competition saw our three Chase Your Dream Trophy winners Hannah Golding, Neil Garbutt and Mike Durkin test their skills playing with European Tour pro Nicolas Colsaerts in a star-studded line-up including Rory McIlroy and reigning Masters tournament champion Sergio Garcia.
Hannah Golding, our youngest winner at 14, who dreams of becoming a pro golfer one day, got to take part in a golf masterclass with her idol, our Chase Your Dream, No Matter What ambassador Charley Hull, who complimented the up-and-comer’s strike and fearless gameplay.
Chase Your Dream Trophy winner Mike Durkin had the opportunity to share stories about golf, inspiration and the pursuit of one’s dream with another inspiring sporting legend, our Chase Your Dream, No Matter What ambassador, decathlon legend Daley Thompson, as the two sat down for a round of Daley’s 1984 spectrum Decathlon game in the Bridgestone Olympic Games Pavilion.
The Bridgestone Olympic Games Pavilion brought to life the Chase Your Dream, No Matter What campaign, with many fun and immersive activities on offer to challenge visitors.
Bridgestone’s Tyre Obstacle Course proved to be a huge success as well, with fans and both Daley and Charley were keen to find out if it was quite as much fun as it looked. The verdict: definitely yes.
